 Pass the parcel

you will need:

a number of small gifts, toy cars, choclate bars etc are ideal

lots of wrapping/newspaper

a radio or cd player

suitable music

 instructions

wrap a token gift in several layers (wrapping paper is nice but newspaper will do just as well) of paper

gather all the children around the table or get them to sit in a circle on the floor.

have an adult in charge of the music who can stop and start it every minute or so

give the first parcel to one of the children and when the music starts they must pass the parcel clockwise until the music stops, whoever is holding the parcel then gets to remove a layer. the music starts again and play continues until someone unwraps the last layer and wins the prize

 Musical Chairs

you will need:

several chairs! bean bag seats will also do

prizes for the winners

music

instructions

arrange the chairs in a circle with spaces so the children can pass between them

make sure there is one less seat than there are children in each round

all the children start by standing up and when the music starts they walk around the circle of chairs

when the music stops everyone has to sit down, the person left standing is out of the game

remove one chair from the circle and start the music again.

each round continues until there is only one chair left and two children. the winner of that round wins the prize
